Equinox

Days are hot and dry, nights getting down into the 40s- my favorite time of year. It has a feel of excitement. When we are young it’s back to school, and for us crafters its our busiest season.

I’ve been glazing this week and really enjoying it. I allowed myself extra time this making cycle- the last couple firings have felt really rushed to me. I think I work better when I have time to experiment. Yesterday I drew and redrew pattern until I found ones which worked for me. Here are images from this morning.

Glazing has begun!

My firing is 2 weeks away and I am glazing it up. I do a lot of decorating on my pots and it takes forever, so I try to give myself time to do it right. When I feel rushed I often don’t (can’t?) take the time to experiment with new ideas. Here are some shots from today’s work.

3 more days of wet clay.

I have just a few more days to make pots before I need to start glazing. I’ve been making lots of sectioned trays.

The weather has been unbelievable- hot and dry during the day, cool and foggy at night. Perfect sleeping weather and right for drying pots in the sun.
